I have talked about Jamie Oliver often on this blog. He sure is doing a lot to promote good food habits and the importance of quality in your plate.
Through all my talks and discussions with people, the recurring theme in what people think is missing is the connection between people and food. The world is simply not connected with what they eat. Everything comes in meticulously attractive packages and the end product is gazillions light years away from how it began. Most importantly, most end products are not food at all, but a combination of engineered chemicals and look alike substances.
Jamie started a program called Fowl Dinners.
Chickens bred for meat are entirely different to those bred to lay eggs. Industrially reared meat chickens are kept on the floor in sheds whilst their egg-laying equivalents are kept in tiered cages. The two industries are completely separate.
Jamie wants you to join him for a very special event on January 11th where he will take us on a journey of discovery to see for ourselves how 95% of meat chickens and 63% of egg-laying hens are still intensively farmed in this country. He wants to highlight the welfare implications for the birds as a result of our persistent demand for cheap food, and hopefully change the way we shop forever.Go and check the website to find more precious information.
